Starting my Practice

Why now?

A question I often ask to my coaching clients during a session is, “Why now?” Why is what you want to do important to you at this moment in time?

Believe me, never did I think I’d be at a point in time where I’m launching a website around my emotional intelligence, coaching, and communications practices. Even only a few short years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me that I’d be where I am now.

It was just three years ago that I participated in a fantastic presentation on emotional intelligence from Carolyn Stern and I instantly fell in love with the subject. Two years later, I became certified in the same model Carolyn presented. Less than a year after that, I began my coaching practice after a fateful conversation with one of my EI certification classmates.

Tumultuous times

So why now? First, we’re living in an incredibly tumultuous time.

There’s so much uncertainty and stress in our lives each day during the COVID-19 pandemic that for many people, it can be difficult to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks that once seemed manageable. You may have lost your job. You may be trying to look after your children while juggling a full-time job from home. Things that may have once seemed within reach may now feel out of reach.

However, despite these hard times, whether it’s doctors, nurses, or grocery store employees, there are so many fantastic front-line workers doing what they can to help the world conquer this pandemic.

Since there are a lot of people who are looking for direction, struggling to achieve their goals, or simply in need of someone to talk to, I felt that, with my training and skillset, it was my responsibility to try to do something to help. Through my website, I’d be able to promote these services that I can offer to those in need.

Therefore, until August 31, 2020:

  • I am offering FREE personal or professional coaching sessions (up to a maximum of 5 per person); and

  • I am offering at-cost emotional intelligence assessments with three complimentary coaching sessions to accompany them, so you pay what I pay to generate the reports.

Growing together

As I complete my ACC accreditation to become a designated coach by the International Coach Federation, as my emotional intelligence practice grows, and as my client base for my communications services increases, I want to clearly and professionally establish my practice to future and prospective clients.

I continue to grow as a professional and I’ll grow until the very last day of my career. I’m building my practice on the concept of growth, and not just on the basis of my clients growing as a result of my services, but on the fact that we’re growing together.

Whether I’m providing an emotional intelligence assessment or coaching session, I don’t hold the power over a client—the power lies in the relationship that we co-create. We’re growing together.

Are you ready?

In addition to wanting to help the world around me and establish my professional presence, my final answer to the question of why now is that I’m ready.

While I completed my EQ training and practiced my coaching with multiple clients, I felt very insecure and wasn’t sure if I had the chops to launch my practice. But once I got out of my head and let my curiosity and care for my clients guide me, I noticed a shift not just in me and my attitude, but in the results of my clients. They felt truly seen, truly heard, and in a better place than where they started.

I’m at a place now in my training and experience where I feel ready to help my clients discover their potential. I’m ready to take on new communications clients. I’m ready to help clients increase their emotional intelligence. And most importantly, I’m ready to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients.

If you’re ready for any of these things too, I encourage you to contact me so that we can grow together.
